The Long Night of the Sciences has been taking place in Jena since 2005. Every two years, with the exception of the corona pandemic years, numerous scientific facilities and institutes, companies and clinics open their doors for a long evening and show guests what is otherwise closed behind their doors - close to the public and versatile, in order to show science in a tangible, exciting and interesting way.
The Viral Ecology and Omics group was part of the Long Night of ScienceExternal link on November 25, 2022, a public outreach event in Jena that attracted 11,000 people. Torsten created a bacteriophage dummy which a lot of visitors tinkered. There is a video Bas Dutilh recorded particularly for this event.
