Preparatory visit to the Institute of Applied Ecology in Shenyang, China

At the invitation of Yi YangExternal link and Jun Yan from the Institute of Applied EcologyExternal link of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and funded by the Sino-German Center for Research Promotion, Torsten spent five days (Oct 16 to Oct 20, 2023) in Shenyang for an intensive scientific exchange. The visit included lab tours, lectures and one-on-one meetings with colleagues (see photo above) of the Key Laboratory of Pollution Ecology and Environmental Engineering and with faculty members of the IAE. Torsten gave a talk at the Environmental Science and Engineering Frontier Forum (hybrid event) and introduced the thriving and vibrant research community of the Microverse ClusterExternal link in Jena to the interested Chinese audience. A visit to the palace in Shenyang, the excellent Chinese food and the hospitality of his hosts rounded off an exciting and successful trip, marking the beginning of a fruitful scientific collaboration.
